Haft-Sin has evolved over the years to reach its current form. From the twists and turns of rigid structures, a gentle image has emerged to welcome the seven S’s of the new year, alongside a candle illuminating a fresh beginning.
A composition of nine forms that come together in one structure. Each in its place represents one of the S’s, from the sprouts (sabzeh) that sit most cherished among them, to coins (sekkeh) and vinegar (serkeh) and everything else that finds a place in Haft-Sin. And a little higher perhaps, a space for our colorings, and also for a candle to brighten our eyes. A collection of the most delicate continuous metaphors of our history in a form belonging to today’s history.
